Release A Bead
Beads of Courage
Through the program children tell their story using colorful beads as meaningful symbols of courage that commemorate milestones they have achieved along their unique treatment path. Join us in participating in this worthy program! For more information, please visit our web page for more information.
Regional Shows
The Midwest Lamp Workers Guild, Nebraska Bead Society andOmaha Beady Bunch held their 2013 Omaha Bead Bazaar on April 13, 2013. Photosfrom the bazaar featuring ISGB participants can be seen in the forum.
Mary-Claire O'Neill of Chicago, Illinois, sold beads, marbles, sculptures, ornaments and pendants in two nonprofit holiday art sales: at Evanston Art Center, in Evanston, Illinois, and Water Street Glassworks in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Both organizations have quality art education programs for underserved kids. Both organizations use a portion of the artisan's sales to help run their art education programs. If you are looking for a way to make a charitable contribution and a place to donate your work, Water Street Glassworks has a year round gallery and can be contacted via their website. Water Street Glassworks program has a write up in December/January Glass Line magazine. According to Mary-Claire, "I love making mini-mural landscape beads as my favorite kind of bead on a mandrel, but also really love implosion pendants and implosion marbles. I love making things on the torch more than anything else in the whole world! I live for my time on the torch-everything else is just waiting... (that's a line from a movie but that's how much I love working on the torch!)"
The Midwest Lampworkers Guild is pleased to announce that we have raised the entire start-up amount of $5,000.00 for the Beads of Courage (BoC) program for Omaha's Children's Hospital! For more information and lots of photos, please visit the West Central Regional News for December 2012 in the ISGB Forum.
Lendy Middendorf reports that Glass Galore was a big success in St. Louis, Missouri. For more information and photos, please visit the ISGB Forum.
