MidAtlantic Region

Kris Schaible, Regional Director
Email - midatlantic @ isgb.org

Hello!!!
I wanted to take a few minutes and introduce myself to those of you who don't already know me.... I am really looking forward to getting to know you all over the coming year.... I am excited to be in this new roll for the ISGB. I am hoping to bring positive changes and fresh ideas to the Mid-Atlantic region and to the entire ISGB. With that said I have a lot to learn and a lot to sort throught so I will ask for your patience in the coming weeks. I would love to hear from all of you with your suggestions, ideas, any concerns in addition to the shows, festivals, classes you are taking and teaching, studios in your area that are offering classes, really anything you would like to share with the ISGB family. Please be sure to pass this info along to your local chapter president or contact person for the group so I can include it in the newsletter. I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible, if you could include in your email which local chapter you are a part of that would be great for me so I can learn where everyone "belongs" in the region. I don't want to bore you all but here is a little bit about my self... my husband and I have 3 children, whom we home school, our son is in 2nd grade and our middle daughter is starting Kindergarten. We live in the North central part of Pennsylvania.... in the tiny town of Palmerton.... I have been melting glass almost 8 years... I use coe 96 glass and I totally love everything about it from the way it melts to the color palette....over the past year I have been learning how to spin my own yarn and have enjoyed discovering new fibers and how to spin art yarns...We love to spend time outside and enjoy the mountain and land that we have....for those of you who visit Facebook I am there as well so drop me a friend request. As the days and weeks unfold I look forward to being able to have all of the monthly tasks I need to accomplish become easier and less time consuming... Leaving me more time to work on the suggestions and ideas I hope you all will share with me. In closing I will hope that each of you will drop me a line as you have time.... I hope to see all of you at your local chapter meeting soon....

Society of Glass Beadmakers, Mid Atlantic
Our official chapter name is the “Society of Glass Beadmakers, Mid-Atlantic.” We are a chapter of over 70 members that has been in existence over ten years. The chapter meets quarterly with other activities interspersed throughout the year. Business meetings are held in January, April, July and October. The dates can be found on the Chapter website http://www.sgbma.org. The meetings are not all about business. Rather they are a time when we can get together, see old friends, make new friends and learn something new. We hold demonstrations and teach new skills from glass to metals and anything in between. At our last meeting one of our members showed her professional level skill at PMC. At other meetings we have come together to make beads to donate to Beads of Courage. The Chapter’s members teach classes in venues as close as Maryland, DC and Virginia as well as all over the world. They take part in exhibitions such as ISGB’s Convergence and Perspectives.
We are a diverse group of people coming together for the love of glass. We are always looking for new members in the Mid Atlantic Region and hope to start new chapters in some of the other states. We look forward to hearing from you and would love for you to participate in what happens locally and regionally. Here are some exciting shows and classes that are taking place:
