Smoky Mountain Firecrackers:  Next meeting is Sunday, March 11 at Ali VandeGrift's new home in Lenoir City, TN at 10:00 EDT.  The exchange theme for this meeting is "Bring your best/favorite bead", and Carol Crye will be demoing the Egyptian Coil bracelet that she will also be teaching at Fountain City Art Center in February.  If you'd like to learn this technique, please bring along some 18 gauge copper wire and your own jewelry working pliers.  For more information about the meeting or for directions  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Congratulations to Ali VandeGrift for being the featured artist in the February issue of the Soda Lime Times, a great e-magazine for beadmakers!  And in next month's issue, look for Angie Ramey to debut her first monthly column as the Grubby Mitts gal!

Congratulations also to Renee Mathies, Verna Hedgecoth and Angie Ramey for making it through the jury process for Venture.  All three of these ladies will have their submissions moving on to the live gallery show in Bellevue, WA that will open in conjunction with the 20th Anniversary Gathering! 

The Firecrackers are also very happy to announce that they have booked their 2012 instructors.  Holly Cooper will be teaching on April 28th and 29th, and JC Herrell will be the fall instructor on October 13th and 14th.

We will be hosting Sharon Peters for two classes:  Sat-Sun Sept.l 22-23 for her basic class and Mon-Tue Sept. 24-25 for an advanced class.  .  In our continuing sponsorship of lampwork categories at the Indiana State Fair, we have added a new Off-Mandrell category to our existing Sets or Series and Focals categories.  We are so excited this year to also be adding a series of Make-and -Takes to many of our meetings as well as continuing our successful demos at each meeting.

We have been well represented in print lately:  Samma Parcels was the  "centerfold" in the most recent Glass Line magazine with her Victorian pendant tutorial, Julie Miller's earring tutorial is appearing in the new Step-by-step Wire Wrapping magazine,Jari Sheese will be the featured artist in next month's Glass Bead magazine and Samma Parcels will also have a tutorial in that issue.  And Sallie Gurth, Samma Parcels, and Jari Sheese all appeared in the Women in Glass issue of the Flow!  Hats off to our great ISLAGA talent!
