Welcome Northeast Members! Now you can look to this webpage to find out about glass beadmaking events in the area.  Plus if you have anything to contribute for other members in the area, just send me an email at northeast @ isgb.org.

I have the best news to report about Rochester NY, but must first thank two glorious groups of women that have gone above and beyond the call of duty.  I chose three women to judge for the region for the Venture project.  I tip my hat to all three of you for stepping up to the plate at such a busy time of the year to assist our ISGB.  Thank you.

Another fine group of women have stepped up to the plate for the Boston ISGB.  These same women just finished their two year stint, and now have chosen to continue in their service to our region.  A huge thank you to these women.  Possibly we could remember this dedication should they call on us for help.  We need to help them keep this group alive.

Now for the most outstanding news for our region. 

If you live in the Rochester NY area or will be traveling through it, make the new studio ARC & flame center a stopping point.  It would be a fantastic destination for an intellectual weekend also.  They offer classes in welding, blacksmithing, and GLASS!

This studio houses 5000 sq ft with 18ft ceilings and a flame shop with 800 sq ft.  There are also class rooms for lectures.  They will offer casting, slumping, and fusing.  Housed in the flame shop will be room for 10 students, which will include cc benchburners, Hellcats, Mega Minors, or Mini Milons.  Each student shall be afforded their own grinder in their modular space.  Also offered is lost wax casting and cold working.

Marketing instruction shall also be an intricate part of the curriculum.  Along with a photography studio/workshop teaching backlighting and forelighting.

They will be able to offer three classes at a time, and that is just in the glass department!

The focus of this very special facility is career development.  This would answer the question of how to make it pay for itself.

I have saved the most important point for last on purpose.  Milon Townsend has assisted in creating this fabulous opportunity and shall teach at this very facility. 

The web address is www.rocafc.com.  Their grand opening is January 7, 2012.  I am hopeful that we will be able to participate here during the Gathering 2013 while attending it in Rochester NY!
