Online Access
Q. Why can't I log in?
A. It depends on where you are trying to log into - the forum or the directory. Double check to make sure that you are using the correct login username and password (it's easy to login to the forum using the directory username and password or vice versa). You may also want to check your browser/security settings, e.g., your pop up blocker can prevent the membership renewal process from working properly.
Q. How many usernames and passwords do I need to access the various areas of the ISGB?
A. Two. (Your username and password may be different for each.)
Forum (For access to the Members Only area, please contact webmaster @ isgb.org (remove spaces) to be granted access to official ISGB business and discussions. You will need to provide your ISGB membership number, your first and last name as well as your forum username so that your info can be researched.)
Online Membership Directory (this is where you can modify the information you want displayed about you in the Directory as well).
Q. I do not have access to the Members Only area of the ISGB Forum, what do I do?
A. Contact our Webmaster at webmaster @ isgb.org (remove spaces) with the following information: - your ISGB membership number - your first and last name - your user name on the ISGB forum
Q. I don't know how to update my member profile, please provide step-by-step procedures

1. Go to the ISGB website. http://www.isgb.org/
2. In the left column, choose Members Only Directory and Log in using your username and password (see above if you do not have your username and password).
3. Under Membership Home, choose My Profile.
4. In your profile, choose Edit in the top right corner.
5. Once your changes are made, select Save.
6. Log out of the ISGB website.
Note: Names of all members will show in the Directory and cannot be hidden.

Q. What is my ISGB membership number?
A. Members can find their membership number in their Membership Directory profile. (If you have forgotten your credentials for this area or have misplaced the email sent out several months ago, please contact membership @ isgb.org (remove spaces) for a reminder. You will need to provide your ISGB membership number, your first and last name so that your info can be researched.) You may also contact your regional director for your ISGB membership number.
Q. What is the ISGB membership year?
A. ISGB membership runs from Jan 1 to Dec 31 of each year. We do not prorate for members that join late in the year.

Q. How does the ISGB help promote my business?
A. If you are a Professional or Corporate Level member, you have these added benefits:
Professional Level, $100
If you are a full time beadmaker, teach beadmaking, or sell your beads at least occasionally, this level is for you. In addition to all the benefits of the Individual Level, you will receive:

Q. How do I renew my ISGB membership?

Q. How do I change my membership password?
A. Log in to the Membership Directory > My Profile > Edit (Upper Right Hand Corner) > Enter Desired Password In Password Box> Save (Bottom Right Hand Corner)
Q. Will I receive a reminder when my membership needs to be renewed and will it be by email, regular mail or by telephone?
A. Reminders are sent by email unless a member has notified us that they prefer to receive correspondence by mail.

A. From http://www.isgb.org go to the membership info section. Select the link to Members Only Directory, and log in. Once you’ve logged in to the directory select My Profile and update your profile information.
Q. I'm not getting the monthly email? Who do I contact?

Q. How do I change my password?

Q. I don’t want to show my phone number/street address/etc. on my Member Directory profile. How can I keep that info private?

Add a check mark in front of the personal data that you wish to keep private. Please do NOT make your name private. This could prevent us from finding your info for important mailings such as the Glass Bead or Bead Release

Glass Bead Magazine and Bead Release Newsletter
Q. What is the difference between the Glass Bead printed publication and the Bead Release eNewsletter?
A. The "Glass Bead" is a printed quarterly publication of the ISGB that includes educational, artistic, professional, and technical information for beadmakers, special announcements and calls for entries, news and reports from the ISGB Board of Directors, glass beadmaking news and events in each region, and advertising from vendors serving the community of glass beadmakers. (This text is directly from the ISGB website.) The "Bead Release" is a monthly eNewsletter that highlights local events and achievements by ISGB members per region. Members are encouraged to submit updates to their Regional Directors by the 15th of each month.
Q. I am not getting the Glass Bead magazine, what do I do?

Q. How does someone get to be the featured artist for the Glass Bead magazine?
A. The featured artist for the "Artist's Spotlight" in the Glass Bead is chosen by author Marcy Lamberson, with input from the ISGB Board and editors of the Glass Bead. Many factors are considered when choosing a featured artist. The list includes, but is not limited to, the artist's unique style, composition, and technique, his/her ability to adhere to deadlines and image requirements as well as current ISGB membership. The author also tries to coordinate a featured artist with a particular Glass Bead edition. For example, an artist who is featured at the Gathering might be chosen to be in the "Artist's Spotlight" for the Gathering issue of the Glass Bead. The author also considers variety between geographic locations, glass styles and other factors when choosing an artist.
Q. Where would I find the specs on sending a photo for Eye Candy, the member show case?
A. Q. Are past copies of the Glass Bead magazine available for purchased by current members?

ISGB Events - The Gathering
Q. Does the ISGB subsidize its attendees?

Q. What local licenses will I need to sell at the Bead Bazaar?
A. Each city/state will probably require sales tax collection. There is usually a discussion on the Forum about what is required and how to go about getting it. Annually, around the time of the Gathering, the Director of Finance will publish information on the forum.
Q. Where can I find a roommate?
A. On the ISGB forum, there is a dedicated area for talking about roommates under the Gathering section.
Q. What do I bring to win prizes or donate beads or be a bigger part of the Gathering?

Q. What is the First Time Attendee Meeting?
A. Meet new and experienced attendees at a one-hour session. Tips will be given on making the most of your time at the Gathering, including an overview of your conference package, the facility layout, the Commercial and Technical Vendor area, food events, The Bead Bazaar, Silent Auction, Live Auction, the Gallery Tour, torch events and nearby activities.
Q. Why should I go to a Gathering?
A. Rich educational opportunity, meet fellow beadmakers, meet your Regional Directors and Board of Directors, see vendor offerings first hand, and amazing presentations by renowned artists, as well as opportunity to expand your skill set by taking a class.
Q. How do I sell at the Bead Bazaar?
A. You sign up for a table (or shared table) when you submit your registration. (Eligibility rules and standards are listed on the registration booklet.) - You must be a conference registrant and be present at the Bazaar. - Exhibitors must make all beads sold at the table. No reps and no sub-letting of space to fellow bead makers. - All Bazaar participants are asked to donate a bead(s) or bead related item(s) to the Silent Auction at check-in. Q. Why should I attend the Gathering Banquet?
A. The banquet offers a chance to relax and enjoy a meal with old and new glass friends while hearing special announcements such as the Hall of Flame Award presentation. Immediately following the meal is the much-anticipated Live Auction so you’ll be sure to have the best seat in the house!
Q. How can I volunteer?
A. There is a check off for volunteering when you register for Gathering. You will be contacted as Gathering gets closer! Volunteering is a wonderful way to meet other ISGB members and be an integral, important part of Gathering! We thank you in advance!
Q. Can I apply for a Gathering Scholarship without being an ISGB Member?
A. Applicants must be a current ISGB member. For information, visit the Gathering section on the website.
Q. Am I eligible for a scholarship? What do I need to do?
A. Each scholarship award consists of a waived conference fee, one night’s hotel lodging, and $100 travel stipend. The International Scholarship provides a waived conference fee, one night’s hotel lodging, and a $500 stipend to help offset international travel expenses. Scholarship recipients will be notified prior to the conference; however, all stipends are presented at the Gathering and are not distributed before. A member may receive only one ISGB scholarship in his or her lifetime. All Scholarships have the same application criteria. Applicants MUST submit an Artist Statement, which should also include their vision and inspiration in addition to a one-page essay explaining how they expect to benefit from attending the Gathering and what they hope to return to the bead making community from their experience at the Gathering. Three (3) images of your work submitted to admin @ isgb.org (remove spaces). Label each image in numerical order with last name: - example (01_Smith.jpg) etc. Images must be in .jpg Format. Each image maximum 1000 pixels any direction, and maximum 1MB Three letters of recommendation must accompany the application. The recipient MUST donate one bead to the Silent Auction. Recipients MUST attend the entire Gathering (Thursday AM-Sunday PM) and volunteer at least 8 hours. Recipients MUST attend the General Meeting on Thursday. A completed Gathering Registration form with optional event and workshop requests and any payment needed to cover those requests must be sent once the scholarship is awarded to the Gathering registrar. In the event that the recipient does not fulfill their obligation, ISGB will revoke the scholarship award and stipend. Each recipient is required to write and submit a short article (500 words maximum) for The Glass Bead Fall issue on his or her Gathering experience.
Q. I'd like to present/teach. What do I need to do?

ISGB Events
Q. What is Convergence?
A. Convergence II is a traveling juried show that will feature functional, wearable jewelry showcasing the use of handmade glass beads designed for an imaginary or historic figure made by a solo artist or in collaboration with one or more partners. Our mission is to once again showcase how handmade glass beads are incorporated into exhibition-quality jewelry, to develop a purchase-on-demand ISGB catalog of the exhibition pieces, and to publish selected jewelry with tutorials in various glass-related publications. The exhibition will open in Rochester, NY at the 18th Annual Gathering. From there, Convergence II will travel to several different locations over the next twelve (12) months. In June 2011, Convergence II will be on display at the Bead&Button Show in Milwaukee and it will close in Ohio in July 2011. Convergence is not a permanent exhibition.
