Talking Hello!! Great class!! 10 e lode!!

    Hello people,

Sorry for delay but it was a long travel around 5000km and need to relax when i come back home a lot of days.

It also was my first trip by flight and since i always have taken train i think in future i will travel by air.....It was exciting!!

About the class ,t was an amazing experience: Kristina Logan is a lovely woman before than a lovely teacher : she's quiet and very free with all of us.

The class taken 2 whole days:after a brief introducing of ourself, she covered a theoretic lesson about glass,tools,annealing...
Then the class was alternate between her demos and our workshop....

I have to be sincere.....i go there as beginner and even if i read some books i can tell to have learned a lot: this class light me about setup, workstation, body position, hands position,etc...

What was so useful was understanding kind of flame, flame work areas, work area bout what we can want to do.

Then it is important when working :
    1)kind of flame (neutral,reducing,oxidizing),even if she used always neutral;
2)flame work area if work more o less near the minor "mouth"
3)flame work area inf work in center of flame or outside.

Then she covered many techniques: basic beads, stringers, twisties, latticino, reticello, raise d dots, flat dots, poked dots, encasing, long beads, barrels, flowers, hollow bead with ivory and silver foil with decoration.....she stupefied all of us.

She's great....i hope some day to be able to do basic beads,me too.....ah ah ah....

All two days, all together had lunch and dinner.....beauty group....all the friends spoken very well english....me a very little.....my friends......knew only CORDON BLEU.....ah ah ah...good atmospere, good feeling.....

A very thanksgiving also at Bohle staff that as always they taken care of us.

A great greet to Mr Lucas and Mr Roger from Bohle to have managed in a straordinary way the class and all reservations.

Finally i also knew Marlein: she's charming....i have her as benchfriend...ah ah!!
Latest day together, Kristina gave us a partecipation certificate and with all friends we have changed our contact details....

VERY HAPPY TO HAVE BEEN THERE!!

    Mike,
What a delight seeing the photos and reading about your class. So glad that you got to know Marlein also. It is always amazing how much information we take back from classes. And even sometimes it doesn't make total sense, but later on something clicks and it does.

Now we're ready to see the beads you made and cheer you on as practice.

    Great job!

    Smile Thanks for sharing, Mike!

Ou-la-la! So tall, dark and handsome!!....Oops, so sorry, I digress (insert blushing smiley face here) Well, I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed this;>)

Ciao Mike, so glad you and Marlein had such a great time! Kristina is the sweetest and kindest soul you could ever learn from. Now, you must come to the States and check out the lampwork scene going on here! You should start to make plans to attend our Gathering either in 2007 at Minneapolis or California in 2008. You will have the experience not to soon forget! So much technical information and personal exchanges that will make your trip worth every euro and more! I promise you will have no regrets. Our conferences are truly fantastic!

    Ciao,

    Ofilia

    Hello Mercy and Ofilia

I am working on basic round beads in the beginning and study on books i purchased from US,especially on Corina Book.

Soon i will post the fotos, but please do not "joke" me....there are my very first beads....but i have all enthusiasm and patience to learn and go ahead.

Also very thanks at all you for encouragement....

Ofilia, thanks to you, too.are you referring about me in the foto??(1)

I thought seriously to come next year in US at your next gathering.....but i need a lot of information....as a child that need to be driven from own parents...Can i count on you??

i also posting my flameworking area about my new studio: any comments or suggests?(2)

I would like to place some questions
    (3) as you see i have the creative station : can i find any foto to see how to keep arm and wrist?
    (4) for you a bigger bead bear into multiple turnings or with only turning?(sorry stupid question)

    Hi Mike

I'll try to answer these questions:
    (3) The creative station offers you a lot of support in ANY position you feel comfortable to work. Just try and adjust it as YOU need it.

    (4) If you want to make a bead, bigger than you can melt the glass at once you can add glass and add glass and... you stop when the bead is tooo big... ;-) The way you add the glass to the starting bead will vary with the shape you want and with the technique you feel comfortable.
Just for demonstration I did a bead of 45mm diameter and 35mm length, barrel shaped and 84g in weight. This is more glass than a whole rod. I had to melt the glass step by step and pile it up in the shape I wanted. OK: That's really big, too big for a necklace...;-)
