That market being moretti, as opposed to <font color="brown">borosilicate, which I regularly pay up to $55 a pound for color...

Okay, so for fun, what would be the value of odd-lot-coralito?? I have some, I "might" want to part with.... seems I have more month left over my money . (Sometimes the story of my life ! ) I think what I'm trying to do is get the nerve to have a 'garage sale' of sorts...

Ofilia...which is the one you (or the folks in murano) are calling "coralito"?

I have 5 corals:
1: the old "streaky" coral
2: odd lot 1 :dark pink center
3: odd lot 2: light pink center
4: odd lot 3: yellow center (much loved and aka "tequila sunrise")
5: new (last batch I got, around the gathering, a smooth melon color- cantaloupe

I have no idea which, if any, are available now. they got hot &amp; went...
So, (I know this isn't a great answer) it depends on what you have.

Mike was selling the yellow coral at the gathering for $1/ 13" rod and limiting it to 3 per person &amp; it all went quick.

the other lots were going for $13/ lb...but, I suspect are all gone.

You might want to put it up for bid &amp; set a reserve if you are only wanting to part with it if it's worth your while.
given the variety out there, you might have to post pics if you don't know which one it is.

I donno.... I know the "old" stuff because I have some of that from 6 years ago. Nothing like it at all.
What I have, I bought when Mike took us to the Effetre factory this April. I'd give it a description between the last two that you gave , as either a tequila sunrise or a melon that blushes! I'll send you some so you can tell ME ( ) since I'm not a regular Effetre user, I'm not up on the different batches. Which one has a slight grainy texture on the rod?

It reminds me of my morning oj with cranberry juice! Very very pretty.... hence the reason to debate parting with it.

Man, but this thread certainly did get...testy!! I don't usually look in this section, since I have nothing to sell and no money to buy anything with..but I happened to notice the 13 responses, so decided to take a look. No further comment.

Except...technically...why IS it that good pinks seem to be so hard for the makers to produce in bulk? Yeah, I know, gold and all that. But I can make a nice, strong, clear true (CHEAP!) pink myself just by mixing a rod of coral (a pinky rod, not an orangy one) with ordinary old white-white. What IS the big deal with the pinks? They all seem to be so...strange!

I just ordered myself what looks like a nice dark op pink...like the best of the best of the moretti dark pinks.- on the expensive side at $19pp, but less than rubino, or the scarce odd lots (btw the pink I'm referring to is lauscha op. fuchsia)
I also have half a dozen frits which do the trick- seems there's enormous variety in the glassblowing frits.
Funny thing is...I'm not all that big on pink (well, I like really hot tropical pinks, but am so so on the others)....so, I'm not sure why I even ordered it, except to expand the palette) &lt;shrug&gt;

I may well get bored with it and put it up here. We'll see.
Aloha,

Actually, O, on my own screen, that pink you used looks pretty appealing!

I will p.m. you in a moment in response to your own to me today--but no no, I was not referring to any of YOUR posts in this thread. I was talking someone else's response...and I don't feel like getting any more specific than that.

Ruffling feathers is just way too easy around here these days, and that's one of the reasons that I "dropped out" of the Forum almost completely for about six weeks!

Hi Kurt and all, I just wanted to point out not to forget, that the core bead does not always have to use solid the desired color of the finish!! This is always particulary true in the boro beads.

For several reasons: first and foremost, it's literally "burried" and basicallly wasted hidden deep in the core. Secondly, you may find a benefit to a transparent crystal core, because it helps keep light (luminessence) as a factor in the 'depth' of the color. An example is Bullseye <font color="purple">Gold Purple . It's opaque, and some batches are darker then others. If you just smear it on the surface, it is the most beautiful purple in the world that day! It's colors would be greatly understated if you used it as a straight solid application.

Play around with your opaques, and even some of your denser dark transparents. By varying your thicknesses, you can attain several shades of the same color, simply, nicely and creatively!

Then, last but not least, is the cost factor. Why waste what can't be seen? A little CAN go a long long way! Sometimes it's a pain in the arse to switch core colors and such, but you'd be pleasantly surprised in the benfits.

When I'm feeling particularly ecconomical I use clear or white as the base of all my beads. Sometimes, I just don't care.
