I took my post (by self-confession, out of sheer cultural ignorance) out. I wrote to Deb about it- because I too, really would like to make things better and not worse- and so, removed my post rather than muddy the waters more.
Sorry if I've confused you all.

And Jan, if you're still around this thread, I have to say that I've picked up a new phrase from you today "glutting for punishment". Yikes, It's something I try not to do...but I sure enjoyed your particular turn of phrase.

Hi Suzmary - yup - got daffs coming up - about 6" tall now. And I saw my first Red-winged blackbird 2 weeks earlier than ever before AND a couple Great Blue Herons have already arrived at a huge rookery near here - also early! So, realizing that Mother Nature knows the weather better than we do, it appears Spring will be early this year! Yippee!!
