Jan, thank you for your kind words. I hope we can "kiss and make up" so to speak (not literally--today is my 33rd wedding anniversary!).

Now, another matter. It has been pointed out to me privately that not everyone knows who the Soup Nazi is/was, and that it might be offensive to those who think of it as a slur. Believe me, it's not! I have never watched Seinfeld, but knew the character's name and role. It honestly never dawned on me that the name would be otherwise interpreted.

And as a person of 100% German ancestry, I am well aware of the horrible world tragedy the true Nazis caused--both of my parents were in the Army during WWII. It was a terrible time in our history, and one we must never repeat.

How 'bout we put this thread to rest, and talk about something nice, like my pretty daffodils or the red roses Hubby brought me?

If we can't speak ill of the Nazis, who CAN we speak ill of? Who else do we have to be nice about -- Jeffrey Dahmer? Can we call him a cannibal, or should we just say that he preferred an alternative protein source? It would be wrong to suggest that everyone in Germany, or everyone of German descent, was a Nazi -- but the people who were Nazis were bad.

By the way -- I think Yoda is a little too green for Effetre sage. Maybe if you mix nile green and avocado . . . and be careful to keep those ears warm so they don't crack!

(And just to make myself unpopular, let me mention that I loathe Yoda, largely because of his inverted phraseology. I would have loved to see an Imperial Walker squash him into a nile-green pancake.)

    Now let's talk about absinthe.

    LOL, Emily!

But, love Yoda, you must! American tradition, he is!

I'm only kidding, I'm not much of a Star Wars fan, myself (although I am forced to listen to it on a bi-monthly basis, as my son and DH are fanatics ), but I do like the springy little guy. He's kinda cute.

You know, for a wrinkly, three-foot, backwards-talking alien!

Emily, dear, I think you're misunderstanding my post. There were some people who thought I was calling Jan a Nazi--and I most certainly wasn't!

Of COURSE I speak ill of the Nazis, as well as Jeffrey Dahmer, and any other mass murderer. But I can't think of anyone on ISGB who would be compared to these #&^@*$ "people" nor do I think that everyone who is German is or was a Nazi. I just mentioned them to show that I am by heritage part of the group most affected by them and their deeds.

For the record--Nazis bad, Germans good. Soup Nazi character funny, Nazi reality bad. Don't know nuttin' 'bout them Yoda people.

PLEASE, please, email me privately if that isn't clear enough!

I'm just curious, as I must have missed the post about that, but how did we go from a frank discussion about the relevance, or lack thereof, of posts and/or information sharing on this board, how, oh how, did we travel so far from that as to Nazis, Dahmer, & Yoda???????

I'd like to be a peacemaker here. Olive branch extended, nobody consideres anybody anything other than a beadmaker with an opinion, and move on to more relevant discussions. Anyone else here in the northeast have any crocuses (sp?) yet? Or, hope, I will, daffodils yet? Please advise.

(Olive, THAT might be a color for Yoda, it may!)

I actually enjoy irrelevance, much of the time.

And Deb, I wasn't criticizing you -- my diatribe was directed at the nameless, faceless (and possibly hypothetical) persons who might object to your use of "Nazi" in a derogatory context.

But I HAVE heard that Jan is vehemently anti-soup. (oh, calm down -- just kidding, just kidding.)

Come to think of it, Yoda bears a distinct resemblance to pea soup.

Gosh, just think back to olden times, when people were forced to use pens, paper, and stamps in order to misunderstand each other.

Hi Emily, I like your "alternative protein" line. You DO crack me up, girl!

You all think my typo's are famous now ? Well if you saw my handwriting, you would not be able to distinguish a single word (nor I for that matter), so it would be completely open for all sorts of interpretations and misunderstandings!

Yes, you probably did miss a post. I know of at least one that was edited out by request of the writer.
