    Oh, WOW!!

I am so impressed with all those lovely beads!! These are my absolutely favorite kinds of threads, nothing like a little eye candy to get the day going.

Here are a few new ones that I just did... the dichro went kinda funky on me, and has a really metallic, satiny look to it. I'm not yet sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing, LOL!

Keep those pictures coming, guys and dolls!

    Charity--Have I ever told you you're my...h-e-e-e-r-r-r-o-o-o...?

(Sorry, I just couldn't resist doing that one more time. I promise I'll stop eventually ((her last name is Heroux, folks--that's why she gets tormented this way! I picked it up from her stories about what used to happen when she was little!)) I think those pendants are stunning, even if the dichro went a little wonky on you. I don't know when I can get up there, but I think we oughta plan a little session together soon, with maybe a trip to A.S. thrown in...And we can stay up all night together!! Few of my friends have the "staying power" to do that!

More beads, more beads, keep making 'em and posting 'em! I'm finishing up a necklace so grandiose now that it won't even fit on my scanner bed. I wonder who is going to have the courage (and neck musculature) to buy it and wear it? Picture to come soon, I hope...

everyone's work is so beautiful. it's great to see so many ideas. well since i'm new here, i thought i should post some pics. unfortunantly i'm no good at taking pictures of beads(i'm kinda lazy bout that) -so most of my good beads i don't have pictures of. but here's a few random beads i found around the house, and a strand of imitation lava rocks that was part of a sculpture that is no more.

http://www.glassartists.org/zeelfqueeen click on the beads at the bottom for more beads.

hope you enjoy. it's been so cool to see everyone else's work.

Aubrey--WOW--what a website! Your beads are great, I especially like the lava rocks. They remind me of the year I was staying in the village of Kalapana on the Big Island, housesitting for a friend, the very week that Kalapana got wiped out again by Madame Pele (the big volcano in Hawaii). Same year I was in San Francisco for the earthquake, and then on a sailing ship in the Bahamas for Hurricane Hugo...(And you folks think that I'm accident-prone? It's much bigger than that, I'm afraid!) Anyway, it's nice to have you join us and see a bit of what you do--and I warn you guys, that website where Aubrey's pix are could keep you awake for a WEEK, studying everyone's work...

Following are two quick scans of my Really Big Necklace. It all started with the amazing piece of carved banded agate that's in the center, that I bought at a gem show in June for $8.00. It's actually a bat, if you look at it head on instead of from the top, but you'd never be able to see that now. A couple of weeks ago, I made it into a fairly simple necklace, with nothing dangling from it yet, but it looked "naked" that way, so I started making beads to match it, and really turned on the steam to get it to where it is now--which may be way overboard!

It was hard to scan it by laying it down too, and the dangles look really strange all fanned out this way--but I did that so that they would all show. (When it's worn, they hang straight down.) I'm not totally happy with the overall shape, and will probably reduce the length of the outside dangles, so that the whole piece is more "V"-shaped. But you wouldn't believe how much time I've put into this piece, and I finally had to put it to bed for the night. And the stuff hanging from it came from all over the globe...

The sweetest thing on it for me is the gold star that you can't see very well. That was one remaining earring of a pair I cut from sheet gold in about 1973! On top of the gold is a silver circle, and in the middle of that is a labradorite cabachon about the size of a flea, that I bezel-set! And on the back of the star is a bolt of silver lightning. How this star showed up on my workbench last night while I was looking for elements to use in the necklace is one of those magical mystery things, as I hadn't seen that earring in at least ten years!

Anyway, that's plenty of preamble...Take a look...this is the kind of stuff I make when I set out to make a Necklace with a capital N!

And keep on posting--this is so much fun--it's been so long since we've had a show and tell here!!

I guess everyone here deserves a great big winners' ribbon........ the beads are sooooooooo yummy and all the work is such an inspiration. maybe one day I'll be able to make some beads half as nice.........

I guess I'd better spend more time at the torch and less on this seat......

Congrats everyone on all the lovely work - you are really an inspirational lot.......

PS Can you post photos off a computer or does one have to post from a webpage?

This site doesn't host pictures -- just doesn't have the space -- so you have to have the picture posted somewhere else on the net. It doesn't have to be a formal webpage. There are free picture hosting services, and most ISPs give you a little storage space where you can post a picture. Then you just copy the address, hit the "Image" button below your reply text box, and follow the directions.
