Default 2013 Seattle 'Beads of Courage' Bead Challenge - September 21st, 2013 - Get Involved!

    Dear Glass Bead Artists,
We invite you to get involved in the 2013 Seattle Beads of Courage 'bead challenge' event!

‘Beads of Courage’ is an organization providing arts-in-medicine support for children battling chronic, life threatening illness. ‘Beads of Courage’ helps children tell the story of their treatment journey with beads that represent each procedure they undergo. Their journey begins when each child is first given a length of string and beads that spell out their first name. Then, colorful beads are given to the child by their professional health care provider to mark milestones in their treatment.

One of the 2013 National Bead Challenge events will be held at Seattle Glassblowing Studio on Saturday, September 21st, 2013. The Bead Challenge is an opportunity for young patients in the Beads of Courage program to take a needed break and learn about how glass beads are made. Young patients are encouraged to attend the events and to request their ‘dream bead’ and participate in the activities. Members of the community, treatment providers and bead aficionados all come together to make this a memorable event.

There are many ways to get involved:
    • - Donate beads to the Beads of Courage program
    • - Volunteer to do torch demonstrations on September 21st
    • - Volunteer to help with bracelet making and other events on the 21st
    • - Provide event support materials for the day of the event (torches, mandrels, glass)
    • - Bead Sponsorship – become a sponsor for a child in the Beads of Courage program
The generous support of the artistic community makes Beads of Courage possible! This is also an opportunity to promote the art of glass beadmaking and bring recognition to the many talented bead artists in the Pacific Northwest.

Please contact Cyrena or Karin for information on how to get involved: (206) 448-2181 or sgs@seattleglassblowing.com
