This is my first cake topper also so figuring it all out is a work in progress. The brass wires are embedded in the glass. I used the wires to form the frame and to my surprise the six wires were enough to hold up the 6 leaves. I then covered the wires with linen cord. I need to continue covering with layers of the cord. I will coat the linen cord with polyurethane so it can be washed afterward.
The largest leaf is 3", so it stands about 6" high.
