Ok - here is what I have been working on:
I have a customer who wanted more bumby beads to finish a necklace of my beads she had started. So I made a bunch for her to chose from. Yes, Hayley's presentation at the Gathering helped me with the silver glass I used on them (more of which I bought at the Gathering, too.). And I did etch one.
And I decided to try some window beads - also influenced by a presentation at he Gathering.
I only have a wet belt sander, not a flat lap so I fire polished the beads to try to get a better finish. Still have a good bit to try before I feel like these are really any good. And the bead on the left is cracked and broke apart after I finished scanning it. Did you ever turn on your kiln, do your other prep work, make your first bead and when you went to put it into the kiln realize that you really hadn't turned it on? Result - one really cracked bead!
Debby
Gorgeous, Debby! I love bumpy beads....both making them and wearing them.
And I love the direction you're going on the window beads!! And my mom can relate to the kiln situation. She did the exact same thing this past week! Turned it on, but didn't ramp it up, and sadly, lost a pretty floral bead because of it.![]()

Debby those are great... I really like the one in the right hand corner that looks etched..... I have a lapping maching and it is very fun to create a bead in all its layers then to grind them away and see your inside... it is like opening a present..... I have a blue bird kiln and it take for ever to ramp up so I usually turn it on then come back in side for a few minutes but Trey tells a story of sitting at the torch with a marble for about 40 minutes while he waited for a kiln to come up to temp.....
i hope everyone has a good day...
let s see more beads...![]()
