Yes, thank you for asking. Is it okay if I plug my new torch directly onto the tank? I don't have a hose yet and it sounds like it might be a while.

Wes, are you going to use a flash back arrestor?

Dale, the hoses are mainly to cover the distance between torch and gas, aren't they? And distance is desired because of the flame?

Yes, I want to plug my torch onto the propane tank at the table, so I can work. But they have different screw types.

Yes but Mr Fleming knows better, he is master at shaping hot glass, I think he is trying to have some fun with my attempt to get forum rolling again...

    Dale,

why do you need "to get the Forum rolling again?" If there are questions I am certain they will be answered.

    Good grief
Vince and Dale you both have a great deal to offer. I'm sorry I didn't check in sooner.

I wish we could once and for all come up with the answer to many of the safety question.

I just spend several months agonizing over my hood and fan for the new studio.
    So many different opinions.
If I got a fan that was big enough to pull 125CFM per face square foot. With the size room I have the student hair would be standing straight up and the silver foil would fly up into the hood.
I have a science back ground and all I really wanted was a formula that would make sense. Yes there are many variables but I do think it is possible to plug the number in if I just know what all the blanks are.

There is a balance between exchanging enough air and pulling the sewer gas out of the bathroom.
I ask many people about this issue and the best answer I got or at least the one that made sense was from the folks at the studio at Corning.

So Vince and Dale want to add your thoughts?
I'm still at the hood being built stage so you input would be valuable.

    Hood 4"6"x 9'6" table 5'x10 foot
Hood bottom at 75" table top at 42" that’s 33" between table and lip of hood
    Room 460.35 square feet
Ceiling height 12ft well 11.5 now that we insulated the ceiling
Oh 1 to 12 torches probably never 12 but I could have a sell out class
The average would be 8 torches minors and GTT the biggest being the Phantoms.

Now you must take into consideration even with the air-conditioning it is TEXAS and hot.
Let me know if you need more info

    Thank you
    Sam

Dale - I'm sorry for antagonizing you

Sam - I hadn't heard, that's exciting!!! Are you going to teach your secret fusing techniques there? Let me know if you ever want a soft glass sculpting workshop.
