    Default New for 2011?

I started off 2011 by making a new Kokopelli murrini. This project started to make a set of memorial beads for one of the nursing staff at Children's Healthcare here in Atlanta. Matt was a young nurse who died suddenly and it put the whole staff into a funk. My Beads of Courage coordinator there asked if I would consider making a memorial bead for them and thought Kokopelli would be appropriate. These are very special folks so I naturally agreed to take it on, it just took me a while to come up with the right plan.

    What's everyone else up to?

    Robert

That bead is just awesome! What a wonderful tribute to Matt. I am sure everyone will treasure these beads forever.

What a lovely tribute, Robert! Your murrini is beautifully done. The kokopelli is one of my favorite designs. Thanks for sharing!

Robert, those murrini are great (saw them on LE the other day), but they're even better knowing the story behind them! Great tribute.

Here's my first piece for 2011 - I've been wanting to do some more complex, architectural work. If you were at the Gathering, you basically saw how I made this except with the added complexity of the mantis. Unfortunately it's got a small crack in the grass right above the bottom-most foot, but I don't feel too bad about that considering how the piece generally went so well!

Beautiful mantis sculpture. I missed the Gathering last year but hope to make it to Louisville for the next one. I haven't done any insects yet, though I do have a kind of funky looking scorpion. Fungi are my sculptural thing.
Debbie, you get a lot more color out of DH than I do, very cool beads!

    Thanks,
    Robert

Thanks, but now that I look at this pictures, most of the color is washed out. They really are very intense. I may have to try getting a better picture for you.

I just checked my FB page and the picture there has better colors. I had two versions of this on the other computer - guess I posted the wrong one here. ------- I just changed the picture - the new version above should show the better color.
