Hi,
I'm going to Germany and would like to take my trusty HotHead torch to use while I'm there. I'm told it is not compatible with the one pound propane cannisters. Is there an alternative that will work? An adapter?
Thanks!

Hi,
you can try to use the premixed bottles of Maap gas and attach the hot head directly oat the top of the bottle....
the only problem is that the bottle gets cold with use and you have to change it every 1/2 hour to avoid the 2 liquids to get separated...
..this is what I know...

Thanks Elena!
Do you know if the MAAP tanks easy to find in the Hamburg area?
Holly
Hi Holly,
sorry I cant' answer to your question.... I live in Italy...
But here in Italy you find the MAAP gas in shops selling plumbers supplies, and sometimes in big housewares department stores such as Leroy Merlin, Castorama, etc.
I hope some German member of the forum reads this post so to give you more detailed advices!!!

I used the MAAP canisters for awhile when I started (both for myself and for my students). I would hang a little bucket with an inch or so of warm water at the bottom on the canister itself to keep the gas from condensing so quickly. It was a lot easier than switching the canisters every 20 minutes or so. Good luck!

Hi,
It might be very tough to find the right connectors for the Hot-Head burner to the European gas cylinders ot disposible cannisters. (this is kind of "Japanese No") I've tried it and I got MAPP-cannisters for a way too high price. For adapters you would have to contact the manufactorers of the Conkinect-Beadmaster burner. It uses the Hot-Head torch on a very nice stand including an adapter to European hoses and regulators (0.5-4.0bar). There are other "single fuel torches" based on the Hot-Head on the German market and you can get brazing torches from Rothenberger with disposible cannisters or adaptors for the larger cylinders.
You can go to http://www.perlentreff.de and click on "Bezugsquellen" to find technical vendors. You will find classes "Kursanbieter" as well and there is a calender with classes as well. If you have special questions for German beadmakers just ask in the forum. You should get very helpfull answers there.

PS: For the Hamburg area look for Volkmann Glass Design. They have a nice studio and speak English.
