Since its inception, the focus of The Flow has been to provide a bond among members of the lampworking community. This has been accomplished by developing relationships with the finest artists & sharing their techniques with you through in-depth, step-by-step tutorials. In every issue you can enjoy great content with the hottest artists and cutting edge techniques using the latest industry products. These features along with the continuation of our Women in Glass edition, Glasscraft Emerging Artist Awards, inspiring gallery showcases, dynamic general interest articles, as well as health and safety information make The Flow the leading international lampworking journal.

Profitable Glass Quarterly came into being through the guidance of its Editor in Chief, Maureen James, and her husband, Publisher, Steven James. Maureenís experience as part of the staff at Standard Gravure, a subsidiary of the Courier-Journal in Louisville, Kentucky, and Stevenís background in fine arts gave them invaluable experience that helped them to establish a firm foundation for PGQís older sister art glass periodical, Glass Patterns Quarterly.

Through the years since the inauguration of GPQ in the fall of 1985, Maureen talked with art glass professionals and discovered that they all expressed a desire to have a publication that would provide a vital resource for glass professionals. Research showed that there were few published materials related to the business side of art glass. In particular, there seemed to be a need for information that would help stained glass retailers. To meet that need, the initial Spring 1998 issue of Profitable Glass Quarterly was launched as a newsletter that was designed to help retail store owners sharpen their business skills while keeping them in touch with the latest innovations in the world of art glass.
