Ventilation - Yakiniku Style

Hi everyone.

I recently went to a Yakiniku (Korean BBQ) resturant which had these vaccuum like things hanging down from the ceiling. To me, it looked like elephant trunks. The hose could be pulled down to hover right above the cooking plate. Do you think that these units would provide good ventilation?

If so, does anyone know where to get them? I've done many internet searches but have not been able to find them.
