ISGB Scholarship Program and Application Forms
Each year ISGB offers a number of scholarships to qualifying members to enable them to attend the Gathering. A special International Scholarship exists to lend encouragement and financial assistance for our members outside North America to experience the Gathering. The ISGB Scholarship Committee is co-chaired by Alethia Donathan, Leah Fairbanks, Lewis Wilson, and Kendra Bruno.
Each scholarship award will include:
●A Waived Conference Registration Fee
●Hotel Lodging for one night
●A stipend of $100 for North America or $500 for International Scholarship recipient to assist in air or driving expenses
All stipends will be presented at the Gathering.

To Apply
To apply for an ISGB, Chapter or International scholarship:
Applicants must be a current ISGB member. New members joining after January 31, 2012 will not be eligible until 2013.
Applicants are required to submit an Artist Statement, which should also include their vision and inspiration in addition to a one-page essay explaining how they expect to benefit from attending the Gathering and what they hope to return to the bead making community from their experience at the Gathering.
Three (3) images of your work submitted to admin @ isgb.org (remove spaces). Label each image in numerical order with last name: - example (01_Smith.jpg) etc. Images must be in .jpg Format. Each image maximum 1000 pixels any direction, and maximum 1MB
Three letters of recommendation must accompany the application.
Requirements
●The recipient is required to donate one bead to the Silent Auction.
●The recipient is required to attend the entire Gathering (Thursday AM-Sunday PM)
●The recipient is required to volunteer at least eight (8) hours.
●The recipient is required to attend the General Meeting on Thursday.
●The recipient is required to write and submit a short article (500 words maximum) for The Glass Bead Magazine 2012 Fall issue on his/her Gathering experience.
Scholarship award winners will be notified by Thursday, March 22, 2012, and will be sent a special registration link prior to the opening of member registration on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. The special link will allow registration including all of the complimentary items listed above. Should the recipient choose to participate in any additional events or workshops, the link will also allow the recipient to select those, with payment due at the time of on-line registration.
In the event that the recipient does not fulfill his/her obligation, ISGB will revoke the scholarship award and stipend.

Cathy Finegan Educational Scholarship Program and Application
"In honor of Cathy Finegan, for her tremendous dedication and service to our organization.
Through her tireless efforts, grace, humor and commitment to volunteerism, she has created a role model for our members and set a standard of excellence for our organization."
The Finegan Scholarship, the largest scholarship available in our organization and awarded for the first time in 2011 for the Louisville Gathering, exists to acknowledge excellence in the art of glass beadmaking and to allow a member of the ISGB to experience the Gathering by providing financial assistance. The recipient will be selected on the basis of both artistic excellence and financial need. Application to this scholarship is open to all members who can meet the requirements listed below, and submit all materials by the stated deadline.
We are pleased to announce that this scholarship will include:
● Full Conference Registration
● Recipient's Choice of One Gathering Class
● Hotel Accommodations for the Conference and one pre- or post- Gathering Class
● Complimentary Ticket for the Gallery Tour
● Complimentary Ticket to the Banquet and Live Auction
● Complimentary Table at the Bead Bazaar
● $200 Stipend to Assist in Covering Airfare or Driving Expenses

To apply for the Cathy Finegan Gathering Educational Scholarship:
Applicants must be a current ISGB member. New members joining after January 31, 2012 will not be eligible until 2013.
Applicants are required to submit a full artistic biography of no more than two pages in length. The biography should describe your history and work in the field of art glass beads, as well as other information you feel is relevant to evaluating your work. Please include information about your service to the ISGB and other art/ glass organizations, as well as any teaching, writing, presentations, or other experience that demonstrates involvement and excellence in the field of art glass beads.
Applicants are also required to submit a two page essay. This should include information commonly included in an Artist's Statement, such as your vision and the inspiration for your work, as well as a clear statement regarding your financial need, and an explanation of how you expect to benefit from attending the Gathering and what you hope to return to the beadmaking community from your experience at the Gathering.
Please use a font no smaller than business size, 10 to 12 points, and one-inch margins.
Three (3) to five (5) images representing the scope of your work must be submitted either via mail or via email to admin @ isgb.org (remove spaces). Please label each image in numerical order with your name. For example, “01_Smith.jpg,” etc. Images must be in JPG format, and should be a maximum size of 1MB.
Three letters of recommendation must accompany the application. Please ask your referees to address both the artistic merit of your work and experience, as well as any information they can provide regarding financial need.
Requirements
Required of the recipient:
●The recipient is required to donate one bead to the Silent Auction at the Gathering.
●The recipient is required to donate one bead to the Live Auction at the Gathering.
●The recipient is strongly encouraged to participate in the Bead Bazaar in order to share his or her work with the conference attendees.
●The recipient is required to volunteer at least six (6) hours at the Gathering.
●The recipient is required to attend the First-Time Attendee Meeting and the General Meeting.
●The recipient is required to write and submit an article (500 to 700 words in length), for The Glass Bead magazine 2011 Fall issue on his or her Gathering experience, and/or a tutorial for a future issue of The Glass Bead.
The Fine Print
Conference registration materials and conference payment should not be sent with this application. The artist awarded this scholarship will be notified by Thursday, March 22, 2012, and will be sent a special registration link prior to the opening of member registration on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. The special link will allow registration including all of the complimentary items listed above. Should the recipient choose to participate in any additional events or workshops, the link will also allow the recipient to select those, with payment due at the time of on-line registration.
Applicants who are not awarded this scholarship will be notified by Thursday, March 22, 2012, and prior to the opening of on-line member registration on Tuesday, March 27, 2012.
In the event that the recipient does not fulfill his/her obligation, the ISGB will revoke the scholarship award and stipend.
This award is non-transferable in part or whole.
This award cannot be postponed and awarded at a future conference in part or whole.
If the recipient cannot meet the obligations of the scholarship, the scholarship will not be reassigned to another artist.
The scholarship will be awarded only once to an artist.
The Cathy Finegan Scholarship Committee is chaired by Alethia Donathan with committee members Cathy Finegan, Margie Shanahan, Leah Fairbanks and Kendra Bruno. All decisions made by the Cathy Finegan Scholarship Committee are considered final.
